We leave Hamburg and Heidi who was very kind hosting us for a night.
Heidi, thank you ! |
We got out of Hamburg easier than when we got in. However, some obstacles remained, shameful for a national route (or even international with eurovelo).
We're progressing well, under an uncertain although dry weather.
As soon as we pitch the tent, rain starts and lasts all night, not preventing us from sleeping after this 100km-day.
The next morning, departure is a bit delayed by the ongoing rain (11h).
We keep going on under a small but continuous rain. Unfortunately, following this so-called route, we end up pushing the bike on a sand-mud trail...

Already late on our schedule, we get lost in Rendsburg and another chain break finaly disheartens us.
However, we spend a nice evening in a hotel with a charming staff, thanks to the chief ! Burps...

We begin our last day in Germany (for a while), still under the rain, and by breaking the repaired chain, again.
Repairs are done under a windy bridge, could have been worse but not by large.

Goodbye Rendsburg and goodbye national cycle route : we take the cycle paths along main roads to accelerate a bit.
After a full 36 hours long rain, a mighty wind raises and blow the droplets out of northern Germany. We rarely fancied such a headwind!
Flensburg gets close faster than expected and we reach Franziska and Klaus' place. The enjoyable evening is spent with a good italian wine :-) .
