Dusty trail along the Saône

After such a nice stay in Cluny, we are back on saddle, leaving Clara and Yohann.
Yohann, Clara, thank you !
Here we are on the second part of the greenway to Mâcon and it's quite funky ! We have to ride up and down some of the steepest slopes on the trip. Fortunately, it's always quite short and turns back to flat-like road before the tunnel (said to be full of bats...).

Outside the greenway, the landscape is more hilly and interesting.

In Mâcon, the tourist office gave us some directions to follow the Saône, going south ... but lunch time before riding this !

Talking with other cyclists, it's quite strange now to explain that we left Lille, go back to Toulouse and went in Scandinavia in the while...

Let's go for the path along the Saône. We hoped for something else than the dirt, rock, sand, heat and dust trail we have to ride and eat until stopping in a small village.

In this little municipal camping, we are offered by our neighbour a fresh bottle of water and enough ice to cool down a white wine we bought just before (in the water bag). We cook a nice diner to comfort ourselves after this demanding day !

For the next day, just a short ride to stop before Lyon, with the same scorching sun.

Still dust on the road !

Have been through Villefranche-sur-Saône, pleasant but not unforgettable.

A bit further on the Saône, a grill smell suddenly attacks us ! No time to understand, we kind of wake up with a glass of wine in the hand and an inviting dish in front of us.

Thanks to the wine (maybe ?) we can't remember something else from the rest of the ride, except the last climb to meet Vinciane's cousins and uncle and aunt who welcome us for the night after a nice diner outside.

Tomorrow, we go through the already known city of Lyon.
