Alsace through its canals

After a last lunch, we leave Annie and Gérard who hosted us in Strasbourg. As we couldn't see everything, we'll have to come back another time ;-) .

Annie, Gérard, thank you !

We follow one of the numerous canals going through the plain, heading south to join the Rhône valley.

The afternoon is almost event-less and we're lucky to escape the rain. The way is well signed, easy !

For the night, we settle in a field, thinking about putting away all our stuff inside the tent.

Well, we couldn't avoid some slugs inside, leaving their sticky trail.
What wasn't expected was the ant invasion in our muesli bag. We spend a long time filtering it spoon by spoon...

Heading for Mulhouse, expected for the evening, we stop at noon in the fortified village of Neuf-Brisach and have our lunch between the defensive walls.
Vincent can mark the occasion of his 30's hhHHAAAPFFFffffffff...

The second part to Mulhouse is a bit more complicated as the canal path is almost invisible and turns out to be a trail. So when a signpost shows a direction to Mulhouse by bike, we're delighted to reach at last the city's bike network. But the bike road trows us on a busy road, loosing itself in a commercial area. It's a struggle to find our way until we cross the eurovelo 6, much better signed.

Mulhouse's surroundings are as ugly as the center is cute, we take a room in a small and kind hotel.

Small birthday restaurant for diner, typically Alsatian !
