A bit further north

... because the storm blew the whole night, making us wonder if the tent would hold on or not. Unsurprisingly, the weather didn't improve in the morning...

Our way to Sortland is very calm and scenic, on a small forgotten road.

We even find some toilets at a yellow sand beach !

But we have to enter the rainy area we hoped to avoid. It's cold and humid, so we wear our warmest clothes. Far from a shelter, in the cold and under the rain ... we have another flat !

We find enough space in an abandoned garage, greasy and dirty but free from rain.
Later, we find another shelter for lunch, enjoying the silent company of a bunch of snow plows and the heat of a hot tea.

For the rest of the day, our brains switch to automatic mode, just noticing how windy it gets for the last kilometres...

Luckily, Anne and John's house isn't far and they welcome us warmly, we and our soaked clothes (that will dry on the wood stove!).
We are provided some excellent fish pudding and various other food, coming from John's addiction to fishing.

We could hardly fall asleep faster, tired after the previous bad night and the wet day ride.

This is it, we are at the most north point of our trip (almost, still 5km to Sto), reaching a latitude of 69° and 4000km from home by the fastest way !

Althoug we're still in the Vesterälen and not in the Lofoten, although we'll go through similar weather and landscapes for the following days, this is an important milestone for us. We'll aim now for the south, for our home, our friends, our families.

We still have a big part of Norway to get over !
